Mi Via Advisory Committee

Attention!

The Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) is moving to the Health Care Authority (HCA). Our current webpages have moved to the Official HCA Website. Please go there for all future DDSD updates.

The Mi Via Advisory Committee (MVAC) is a subcommittee of the Advisory Council on Quality (ACQ) and supports the Mi Via Self-Directed Waiver program in the following ways:

  • To reinforce the Mi Via philosophy of self-direction.
  • To engage “on the ground floor” in providing input and recommendations during policy considerations.
  • To assist the State Mi Via Waiver Program with the on-going evaluation and improvement of the Mi Via program.
  • To help identify ways to simplify the Mi Via processes.

Membership

A maximum of seventeen members may be appointed to serve on the Mi Via Advisory Committee for either two or three-year terms, depending on the member’s role with Mi Via. Appointments are made by members of the Mi Via Advisory Committee.

Qualifications

Members of the Advisory Committee includes Mi Via participants/Employer of Record (EOR) and other Mi Via stakeholders, which may include a Legally Responsible Individual (LRI) such as the parent of a minor participant or spouse of a participant), another relative, guardian, representative, advocate, employee or direct service provider. In addition, membership will include one representative each from the consultant agencies.

MVAC members must be able to participate in most meetings.

The State Mi Via Waiver Program will strive for broad representation on the Mi Via Advisory Committee.  For example, individuals from both urban and rural areas, a range of ages and all Mi Via categories, and individuals who have benefited from Mi Via and want to make it the best it can be.

Please be aware that the Mi Via Advisory Committee members are volunteers whose opinions do not necessarily represent the views of the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) or the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD). Neither NMDOH nor HSD are responsible for the content of committee members’ opinions.

Meetings

The Mi Via Advisory Committee will meet approximately four times per year, with the location to be determined and announced prior to each meeting. Meetings will be at least two hours in length and can be attended in-person or by phone.
