New Mexico Rehabilitation Center
The New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital with CMS deemed status certifications. The hospital is dedicated to being a center of excellence for providing safe and quality of care in physical medicine, medical rehabilitation, and chemical dependency rehabilitative services to the citizens of New Mexico.
We are a 24/7 hospital, normal business hours are M-F 8am to 5pm, visiting hours 8am to 8pm for inpatient medical rehabilitation patients Monday through Sunday. The NMRC is open on holidays to visitors as clinical staff is 24/7, business offices are closed during holidays.
Located in Roswell, the New Mexico Rehabilitation Center offers a wide range of rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, social services, psychological services and a chemical dependency program.

Chemical Dependency services are available to New Mexico residents 18 or older.

Medical Rehabilitation Services
Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation
NMRC offers the most intensive level of 1:1 inpatient rehabilitation therapy available in the region for adult patients who have had strokes, traumatic brain/head injuries, spinal cord injuries, MVA/Motorcycle accidents, Hip and knee replacements, and other ortho impairments that affect mobility and daily functional status. Therapy is provided three (3) hours a day five 5 days a week. This includes physical therapy (PT), outpatient (OT) and speech therapy. Other services include 24/7 nursing care, staff physician, dietary, staff pharmacist, and weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings with patient and/or family to discuss needs, goals, discharge planning, and treatment. Length of stay ranges from 2-4 weeks.
Chemical Dependency Services
Inpatient Medical Detoxification
NMRC has a dedicated eight (8) bed inpatient unit that provides complete withdrawal management care for adults with drug and alcohol related health problems. This program incorporates ASAM 3.7WM. Licensed counselors available for your treatment sobriety programming along with 24/7 nursing care, provider on staff and on-call 24/7 to meet your needs.
Inpatient Residential Treatment
This is a twenty-eight (28) day inpatient residential treatment program that follows ASAM 3.5 for adults who are exploring extended recovery options through daily programming with a multidisciplinary team approach. Program goals include increasing patient’s emotional and cognitive regulation by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states and helping to assess with coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to help avoid undesired reactions.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
This program serves those with primary substance abuse issues and includes a mental health component. The evidence-based model adopted for use is Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT). It is the option for individuals who require structure and support to achieve and sustain recovery while living in their community. The IOP program offers afternoon and evening group sessions to meet the clients’ needs. IOP sessions consist of three (3) hour group meetings three (3) days per week including scheduled individual counseling.
Visitation Guidelines
Medical Rehabilitation Center Unit
- Patients must consent to receive visitors
- General Visitation is Monday – Sunday 8:00 am – 8:00 pm – Visitor’s should check in at the nursing station prior to visiting
- Visitation Areas is the patient’s room, dining room, therapy area, or courtyard
- Children are allowed but must be supervised at all times
- Nurse Supervisor has the right to ask visitors to leave if their behavior interferes with the safety, health, or treatment of the patient or interferes with the rights of other patients
- Pictures may be taken with consent from patient, legal guardian, or healthcare provider. Must not include other patients
Detoxification/Residential Treatment Center Unit
- No open visitation allowed for Detox or RTC clients
- Visitation may be arranged by a counselor based on client needs and programming
- No cameras, cellphones or recording devices are allowed

In compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) ruling that requires hospitals to publicly display a list of their standard charges online, New Mexico Rehabilitation Center has provided a copy of its “Charge Master” for download.
The New Mexico Rehabilitation Center Charge Master is a spreadsheet with more than XXXX items and services that may be provided by New Mexico Rehabilitation Center. Each line includes:
- Charge Code - A number that is assigned by the hospital and unique to an individual item or service
- Description - A description if the item or service
- Rate - The charge for each item or service
The Charge Master is not a guarantee that a procedure is a covered benefit of the patient's health insurance plan. Patients' questions regarding coverage for a particular service are best answered by each patient's health insurance provider.

Please note that what the hospital charges for a service IS NOT the same as what you or your insurance company may pay for a service.
Charges are the same for all patients, but a patient’s responsibility may vary depending on payment plans negotiated with individual insurers. Further discounts are available for uninsured or underinsured patients who qualify.
