No Cost Flu Vaccinations Offered for Adults & Children

October 1, 2014 - Immunization - Vaccination

Walk-in and Drive Thru Service Provided

The New Mexico Department of Health announced today a flu vaccination event will be held Saturday, October 25 @ 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Memorial Medical Center (MMC) in Las Cruces. No cost flu shots and flu mist will be available or while supplies last.

Drive-thru and walk-in service will be provided for adults. Families with children under 18 will be required to park and enter the MMC West Annex Building. Enter the north side of MMC’s parking lot from Terrace Drive between Telshor and Don Roser. Both flu shots and flu mist will be available.

Everyone six months of age and older should get a flu vaccine each flu season, especially people in the following groups because they are at high risk of having serious flu-related complications or because they live with or care for people at high risk for developing flu-related complications:

The Department of Health will be offering a Free Seasonal Flu Immunization Clinic at Memorial Medical Center. Every adult can benefit from the flu vaccine, but diabetics, individuals with chronic health conditions, adults over age 55, parents of small children, and healthcare workers should make an extra effort to get their flu immunization.

Anyone attending the flu vaccination event can complete their consent forms ahead of time by visiting Memorial Medical Center page, and present their completed forms at the time of service.

The flu vaccination event is created in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Health, Memorial Medical Center, the Local Emergency Planning Committee, the City of Las Cruces, Dona Ana County Government, Las Cruces Public Schools and South Central Regional Transport.

South Central Regional Transport will also be offering transportation to Memorial Medical Center the day of the event from outlying regions of the county, including Sunland Park, Anthony and Chaparral.

For more information on the no-charge flu vaccination event, call 575-528-5197.
