Pneumococcal disease, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, is one of the most common causes of pneumonia among New Mexicans. So far this year, approximately 300 people in New Mexico have been diagnosed with severe pneumococcal disease. « read more »

The New Mexico Department of Health is reminding New Mexicans that it’s not too late to get vaccinated against the flu. The holiday season is time for gatherings, office parties and shopping. Coincidentally, colds and the flu tend to flourish during this time as well. « read more »

The New Mexico Department of Health reports today additional flu-related deaths in the state, bringing the total so far this 2018-2019 flu season to four. The deaths are all among people over the age of 50 from Lincoln, Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, and Mora Counties. « read more »
