Hobbs Public Health Office Honored for Piloting Project
New Mexico Department of Health staff at Hobbs Public Health Office, located at 1923 N. Dal Paso, Hobbs, NM, is being honored for going the extra mile.
The public health office, since May 2015, has been open during the lunch hour as part of pilot project providing all services from 12 to 1 pm, making it the first office statewide to do so.
Governor Susana Martinez and Department of Health Cabinet Secretary Retta Ward, MPH recognized the entire Hobbs Public Health Office with Governor’s commendations for volunteering to participate in the pilot project.
“Their efforts have proven invaluable to the people of Hobbs,” said New Mexico Department of Health Cabinet Secretary Retta Ward, MPH. “We wanted to determine if staying open during the lunch hour would give Hobbs residents the opportunity to seek out services at a time most convenient for them.”
The answer proved to be a clear yes. During the second quarter of fiscal year 2016 (October, November, December 2015), the Hobbs Public Health Office averaged 168 clients served during the 12 to 1 lunch hour.
Residents will continue to be able access multiple public health services including Women, Infant and Children (WIC), Clinical Preventative Services, and Vital Statistics from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with Families FIRST and Children’s Medical Services available by appointment only.
