The objectives of the Phase 2 Healthcare-associated Infection and Antimicrobial Use Prevalence Survey were to work out logistical issues with survey methodology and procedures, estimate Healthcare-associated infections prevalence among inpatients in acute healthcare facilities, determine distribution of Healthcare-associated infections by pathogen and major infection site, and estimate prevalence and describe rationale for antimicrobial use in acute healthcare facilities.
