Clinical and Quality Initiatives

Attention!

The Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) is moving to the Health Care Authority (HCA). Our current webpages have moved to the Official HCA Website. Please go there for all future DDSD updates.

Since 2005, the Clinical Services Bureau (CSB) has been involved in a variety of clinical initiatives intended to support the health and participation of individuals and the skills of the professional and non-professional providers.

Aspiration Risk Management

Some people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD) may be at risk for developing Aspiration Pneumonia. The Clinical Services Bureau manages the statewide Aspiration Risk Management Program to help reduce the likelihood of aspiration events, which can lead to pneumonia or even death. The Aspiration Risk Management program assists in the identification of risk factors, early recognition of aspiration symptoms and implementation of personalized interventions that can minimize the health risk of aspiration. End Of Life Packet

The End of Life project is a compilation of resources intended to help persons and their families or guardians.

This information has been gathered and is provided with the generous assistance of people from the multiple New Mexico communities, DDSD Northwest Office, DDSD Metro Office, DDSD leadership and Ingrid Nelson from the UNM Continuum of Care Project.

We could not have completed this project without your contributions. We encourage the use of the many resources that are provided.

Please contact the UNM Continuum of Care Project at 505-925-2350 for specific trainings on End of Life topics.

Healthcare Coordination

The healthcare coordination toolkit is designed to assist individuals, guardians and teams in the proper coordination of healthcare for adults receiving DDW funded supports. (Coming Soon)
