Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network

The Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network, or FoodNet, has been tracking trends for infections transmitted commonly through food since 1996. FoodNet provides a foundation for food safety policy and prevention efforts. It estimates the number of foodborne illnesses, monitors trends in incidence of specific foodborne illnesses over time, attributes illnesses to specific foods and settings, and disseminates this information.

FoodNet Trends, Data Tables & Figures

FoodNet, America's report card for food safety, captures data over a period of time and shows disease trends. Trends captured by FoodNet complement estimates of foodborne illness acquired in the United States, which are designed to give the most accurate count of illnesses at a specific point in time. Together, these data are used by CDC and partners to inform policy, research, and prevention measures.
