Standing Orders for Over-the-Counter Products
Ensuring access to health services is an important public health activity. The purpose of there standing orders is to increase access to specific supplies by removing barriers to coverage if an individual has insurance.
These standing orders authorize New Mexico pharmacists, in accordance with the conditions of their licensure, to dispense the FDA-approved over-the-counter (OTC) health supplies referenced in the order(s) to individuals physically present in New Mexico. This standing order may be used when an individual's insurance would not otherwise cover such a claim submitted under the pharmacist's NPI number.
