Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Program
The New Mexico Department of Health MCH Epidemiology team gathers, interprets and presents data about mothers, infants and children, including Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN). Staff work with public health leaders to use data in statewide health promotion, policy development and community collaboration.

Mothers and Infants
Each year in July, the Family Health Bureau prepares the Maternal and Child Health Services Title V Block Grant report and application and submits it to the Health Resources and Services Administration's Maternal Child Health Bureau. Through the Title V Program, New Mexico receives approximately 4.5 million dollars every year to fund programs for women, children and families. The grant report/application includes data for over 70 Maternal and Child Health indicators.
Maternal Mortality Review
Monitors deaths of women who were recently pregnant or pregnant at the time of death.
Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System
The Pregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring provides information about the preconception, prenatal, and postpartum health of new mothers and their infants.
New Mexico Birth Defects Prevention and Surveillance System
Reports numbers and rates for major birth defects and related prevention information.
Children
New Mexico Child Fatality Review
Reports on deaths in New Mexico for newborns to twenty-four year olds - including homicide, suicide, unintentional injury, abuse and/or neglect, motor vehicle crashes and SIDS - with a focus on risk reduction, prevention, and needs for community systems improvements.
Children's Chronic Conditions Registry
Reports on chronic medical conditions by such factors as county, age, race and ethnicity.
New Mexico Voices
A statewide children's advocacy organization, summarizes health, economic, and educational factors, including rankings with other states. Check out the Kids Count Data Center for data spanning the United States or data by state.
The Child Trends DataBank provides data on the latest national trends with research based on over 80 key indicators of child and youth well-being.
Adolescent Pregnancy and Prevention
The New Mexico Family Planning Program maps county-level data relating to teen births, including poverty and dropout rates. Its latest report address Teen Family Planning.
New Mexico Vital Records and Health Statistics documents teen birth rates and pregnancy-related data and birth outcomes through 2003 by race and ethnicity, age, and county of residence.
