Conference on School and Adolescent Health
Head to Toe conference looks at student health from different perspectives.
The New Mexico Department of Health’s Office of School and Adolescent Health will host the 22nd annual Head to Toe conference at the Albuquerque Convention Center April 18-19, 2018. More than 500 school nurses, counselors and social workers will meet, network and learn valuable skills and best practices to take back to their schools across New Mexico.
New Mexico’s premier school health conference for people working to improve student health and academic success is back for its 22nd year. The event provides two days of innovative activities and creative solutions along with the latest school health trends.
“Head to Toe equips school nurses, counselors and social workers with the latest information and tools necessary not only to keep young New Mexicans healthy, but also helps them deal with a variety of physical and behavioral health concerns early in life, reducing the need for costly interventions,” said Department of Health Secretary Lynn Gallagher.
Keynote speakers at this year's conference include Michael Mann, a West Virginia University Professor with over 22 years serving children and adolescents as a school teacher, principal and the founder of two non-profit youth development organizations, and Josh Shipp, author and global youth empowerment expert.
The Department of Health sponsors the Head to Toe Conference annually in partnership with several agencies and organizations including Presbyterian Centennial Care, Lovelace Health System, and Western Sky Community Care and with the conference producer, Kesselman-Jones, Inc.
