Hidalgo Hope Haven and Recovery Center celebrates grand opening
Today’s celebration to feature state officials, dedications
SANTA FE - The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) welcomes a new cutting edge facility this week. The Hidalgo Hope Haven and Recovery Center, located in Lordsburg, will celebrate the momentous occasion with an official ribbon cutting ceremony and luncheon today, with several state dignitaries expected to be in attendance.
"This new facility will provide valuable public health resources to southern New Mexico, greatly improving access to critical support service and improving the lives of the Bootheel community," said Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. "My administration will continue to use every available tool to expand and improve rural health care delivery for New Mexicans across the state."
The Hope Haven facility, a regional recovery center for drug and alcohol abuse located inside the former Sunshine Haven Nursing Home, will house the Hidalgo County Public Health Office, along with the Recovery Management Center (RMC). RMC offers comprehensive, professional, and personal services to New Mexicans who seek additional strategies for daily living and achieving successful outcomes.
“The services that will be provided at the Hidalgo Hope Haven and Recovery Center will benefit our entire community from dispatch, law enforcement, detention staff, emergency medical services and most importantly the individuals suffering, “ said Tisha Green, Hidalgo County Manager and Detention Administrator. “Providing resources such as these will give those suffering from behavioral health and substance abuse issues an opportunity to effectively treat the root of the problem and reduce recidivism. Having so many necessary resources in Hidalgo County will be beneficial to the Southwestern part of the state. This is just the beginning of what is to come.”
The luncheon celebration will feature a tour of the new facility and speeches by noteworthy state officials. The event is expected to be attended by Lt. Governor Howie Morales, former NMDOH Cabinet Secretary Kathy Kunkel, NMDOH Deputy Secretary Dr. Laura Parajon, and former NM Senator John Arthur Smith, among others.
