Eddy County WIC program celebrates Breastfeeding & Farmers’ Market Week
CARLSBAD, NM – The New Mexico Department of Health’s Eddy County Public Health Office at 1306 West Stevens in Carlsbad will be hosting New Mexico WIC’s Breastfeeding & Farmers’ Market Week Wednesday, August 7 from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m.
Learn about the resources your local WIC office and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides and explore a variety of fresh produce offered by local farmers, including:
- Information about the WIC program and how to get access to resources.
- Get resources and tips on breastfeeding and newborn care.
- Active, eligible WIC participants can receive a $40 Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program issuance.
- Select from a variety of fresh produce and connect with local farmers.

World Breastfeeding Week Events aims to strengthen local support for breastfeeding and to improve the health of children and women in the community. It is one of many similar events that take place annually during World Breastfeeding Week (August 1st – 7th). Countries around the world will be celebrating this year’s international theme which is “Closing the Gap”.
WIC is the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). It is a federal program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service, and the New Mexico Department of Health, Public Health Division. WIC services approximately 430,200 families in in the entire state of New Mexico per year.
