Behavioral Health Institute patients safe from flash flooding in Las Vegas

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute (BHI) in Las Vegas, NM is currently unaffected by ongoing flash flooding occurring in San Miguel County.

Evacuation reports because of flooding in the community led to calls from families and loved ones of BHI residents. Our location is not in the evacuation area, and we wanted to assure families of loved ones at the facility that everyone is secure from the storm.

“Patients and residents of BHI and our Meadows facilities are safe and doing well,” said Timothy Shields, executive director for the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. “I am grateful to BHI staff who came in early and stayed late to ensure patients and residents’ comfort and safety,”

For inquiries about loved ones and family at BHI, call: 505-454-2100.

The Behavioral Health Institute will remain in close contact with local authorities monitoring weather conditions.

We will share additional updates as we receive them.
