Hour of Empowerment: New Mexico Medical Reserve Corps

New Mexico Medical Corps Take Action

The New Mexico Department of Health and the University of New Mexico Hospital Systems team up to share how the New Mexico Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is helping save lives and keep New Mexico safe during disasters. Joined by Drew Downing of the Disque Foundation and host of the Hour of Empowerment.

Bobbie Mackenzie, State MRC Coordinator, provides an overview of the MRC’s background, mission and role in New Mexico. Robert Perry, Hospital Emergency Response Coordinator, gives an overview and examples of how the MRC is integrated and used within the hospital system and the local Healthcare Coalition. Luke Esquibel, MRC Unite Leader, walks us through some of the duties and roles a volunteer performs with his local MRC unit, including training, emergency response and non-disaster activities.
