Public Health

During the 20th century public health activities such as shots, good prenatal care, healthy nutrition for kids and control of infectious diseases added 25 years to the lives of Americans.

You can increase your years of good health, too. It takes smart personal choices such as eating right and exercising, having friends, using good judgment about sex, and avoiding addiction to tobacco, alcohol or drugs. But good health isn't all up to you, alone.  Community initiatives of the Department of Health can help with your smart personal choices.

So, take care of yourself and your family and get involved in your community.  Together, we make New Mexico a healthier place to live.
