Health Emergency Management

The Bureau of Health Emergency Management has created programs dedicated to awareness, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery for the public, first responders, medical personnel, hospitals, and special needs populations in New Mexico.

Programs & Services

Family Emergency Planning Guide will help you develop an emergency plan for your family, put together a family emergency kit, and give you an overview of the types of emergencies you and your family may encounter.

NMsphere (New Mexico's Site for Public Health Emergency Response Education) provides you with full access to all the emergency prevention, preparedness and response trainings available.

NMserves (New Mexico’s statewide registry of volunteer healthcare professionals) is part of the Emergency Systems for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP), established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to build a workforce of pre-credentialed healthcare providers and other key volunteer personnel for response in the event of a wide-scale emergency.

NMMEMS (New Mexico Modular Emergency Medical System) is a medical surge response framework for local communities to use when developing their medical or patient surge response plans.

Strategic National Stockpile is a national repository of antibiotics, chemical antidotes, antitoxins, life-support medications, IV administration, airway maintenance supplies and medical/surgical items.

Resources for First Responders, EMTs, Firefighters and Police offers a number of fact sheets and links to other organizations offering both first responder help and possible health resources that first responders may need in emergencies.

Resources and Preparedness for Targeted Needs Populations offers planning tools, resources and information for persons with disabilities, special health care needs, border and Spanish-speaking populations, educational facilities, senior citizens and Native Americans.
