New Mexico Health Facilities

The Department of Health operates six facilities that provide long-term, rehabilitative, behavioral health and drug treatment programs.

Historic Fort Bayard, located in Bayard in southwest New Mexico, is licensed and certified as a 250-bed long term care nursing facility. It provides an adult day health care program; nursing and medical care; social services; recreational activities; physical, occupational and speech therapy; and an adult wellness program. Yucca Lodge, an in-patient and out-patient chemical dependency treatment center, is also located on the Fort Bayard campus.

New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute

The NM Behavioral Health Institute operates the state psychiatric hospital and offers many other behavioral health services.

Located in Las Vegas, BHI also operates community mental health services in three counties, a treatment program for male sex offenders and two long-term care facility with a total of 167 beds.

Residential treatment for boys ages 13 -18 with a history of sexual offenses and co-occurring mental health issues.

New Mexico Rehabilitation Center

Located in Roswell, the New Mexico Rehabilitation Center offers a wide range of rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, social services, psychological services and a chemical dependency program.

Found in Truth or Consequences, the New Mexico State Veterans' Home offers three levels of care to honorably discharged veterans of the US Armed Forces: skilled nursing care, routine nursing care and adult residential care including independent living assistance.

Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center

Sequoyah, located in Albuquerque, is a 36-bed residential treatment center for adolescents who have a history of violence, have a mental disorder and are amenable to treatment. Sequoyah is a secure treatment facility.

The Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) as a behavioral health care organization.

Turquoise Lodge Hospital

Turquoise Lodge Hospital, located in Albuquerque, is a 34-bed hospital that provides medically managed and monitored inpatient chemical dependency detoxification and rehabilitation treatment.
