Policy and Performance

The Division of Policy and Performance, (DPP) consists of five offices, the Office of the Director, the Office of American Indian Health, the Office of Border Health, the Office of Health Equity, and the Office of Performance. DPP is charged with creating innovative approaches to improve the overall health of New Mexicans and to address multicultural disparities.

The Directors Office directs the development of Department policy and strategic planning, coordinates legislative strategy, and leads efforts to address health disparities among New Mexico’s diverse populations.

The office of American Indian Health is responsible for developing strategies to eliminate health disparities among American Indian populations residing in New Mexico, identifying and providing technical assistance and strategizing training needs for American Indian communities, identifying gaps in the existing healthcare delivery systems and developing strategies to address these gaps as well as facilitating partnerships that improve the health of American Indians in New Mexico.

The office of Border Health improves the heath status and health services in the New Mexico/ Mexico border region and to provide guidance and support to public health initiatives that serve the migrant and recent immigrant subpopulations throughout New Mexico.

The office of Health Equity addresses health disparities in all populations in New Mexico and seeks to reduce health disparities through efforts such as raising awareness, mobilizing communities, increasing capacity, preventing disease, promoting health, focusing resources on targeted populations and delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate health care. The Office will provide educational opportunities and access to resources to assist health care providers to provide the best possible care to their patients/clients.

The Performance Office coordinate and improve the collection and reporting of data. Internally the Office works with individual programs and divisions to improve the collection and reporting of data for performance measures and program services.
