The Health Systems Bureau provides leadership throughout the state of New Mexico on initiatives that improve health services, support health promotion, and strengthen local, regional, and statewide health systems in order that all New Mexicans may achieve the highest quality of health.

Support and strengthen New Mexico’s system of Community Health Centers (CHC) that provide primary care, behavioral health, and oral health care to underserved populations and rural communities.
Improve access to health care for school-age children and adolescents through a statewide system of school—based health centers.
Improve oral health through promotion of preventive dental care for children, adolescents, and adults.
Improve community health by providing guidance and support to statewide and regional health promotion initiatives.
Support and strengthen community-based health planning and local public health systems through developing health councils and community partnerships.
Develop and strengthen collaborative initiatives that result in reduced use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
Develop and support initiatives that improve the health of New Mexicans with disabilities.
