Cancer Program and Information

 

The NM DOH Cancer Program’s efforts are guided by the goals and objectives of the 2007 – 2011 New Mexico Cancer Plan and the NM Cancer Facts & Figures 2007, the plan’s companion document, which outlines the burden of cancer in New Mexico.

New Mexico Department of Health (NM DOH) has two programs focused on cancer:


arrowNew Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Program website - The Comprehensive Cancer Program focuses on colorectal, lung, skin and prostate cancer education and awareness activities; cancer survivor support and education services; and cancer patient housing.

arrowNew Mexico Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program website - The Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program provides free comprehensive breast and cervical cancer screening services to qualified women throughout New Mexico.

Mission Statement


The New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Program’s mission is to promote the health of New Mexicans through comprehensive cancer prevention and control efforts, with a vision to reduce the burden of cancer in New Mexico by working in public/private partnerships to maximize resources.

The New Mexico Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program’s mission is to detect and control breast and cervical cancer by providing for comprehensive breast and cervical cancer screenings to underserved women.
