Billboard Thumb 1

Billboard Thumb 1

Two billboards designed by Ramah Navajo members remind drivers coming and going from the reservation that "Diabetes is NOT our tradition." The designs were submitted in response to a contest sponsored by the Pine Hill Diabetes Prevention Program to raise public awareness of diabetes on the Ramah Navajo reservation. The billboards are located on BIA 125 and Highway 53, located at the entryway and exit of the reservation, so that people driving through the reservation are constantly reminded that "Diabetes is NOT our Tradition." The contest was one component of a contract the Pine Hill Diabetes Prevention Program had with the Department of Health's Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.

The winners are:

15-year-old high school student Cody Claw (first billboard)

25-year-old Nataani Platero (second billboard)
